About me:
Hi! My name is Mandy Southern. I am Boone, NC born and raised! I have always loved the water - since my first beach trip at 4 months old! As a kid I spent my summers at the pool, river, lake, creek or watever water I could find! Other than swimming, I enjoy kayaking and hiking, camping and pretty much anything outside.
I love teaching and sharing my love for the water with others, especially those who are not comfortable at first! I have chosen to offer private lessons so I can focus on the individual and allow each person learn at their own pace.
My Experience:
I started swimming competitively in 7th grade and on through college. I then went on to run 10 full triathalons in 10 years and now mostly compete in the swimming portion of distance triathalons as part of a relay team.
I have been certified lifeguard since 1996, earned my Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Certificate in 1999, and Safety Training for Coaches in 2006 - all through the American Red Cross. I helped establish the ASU Triathalon Club in 2001 and currently assist coaching the Watauga High School Swim Team during the season.
I love working with people of all ages and hope to have the chance to get in the water with you or your family soon!
